Where they Were
A multi-generational family business built through decades of shared ownership
But as generations expanded, so did complexity. By the third and fourth generation, more than 70 family members were connected to the enterprise, each with different levels of engagement, expectations and connection.
What was off Centre
The risk wasn’t operational. It was relational.
As ownership diluted, dividends naturally became smaller. Without connection to purpose and future value, the business started competing with other life choices.
Sell. Withdraw. Move on. Enough individual decisions eventually become a collective problem.
Purpose wasn’t culture work. It was sustainability.
The family tells the business where they want us to go. If the family isn’t aligned then the business is stuck. A clear purpose provides that north star for us all — it’s invaluable.”
Finding Centre
centrepoint worked across two systems at once: The business. And the family.
Together we:
- Defined shared purpose above both systems
- Created vision and manifesto
- Helped build strategic direction in service of that vision
- Supported family leadership structures
- Designed engagement strategies for to increase engagement of family members
- Helped individuals understand where they lead and contribute
The work wasn’t about preserving ownership. It was about strengthening belonging.
What Changed
Alignment became visible in everyday behaviour. Participation increased. Conversations shifted.
Business decisions became easier because there was greater clarity around what the enterprise existed to protect and create. One moment captured the shift: More than 70 family members gathered together to review and align on the purpose — with energy and excitement.
Not because everything was solved. Because they saw themselves in the future.
“I want to stay connected.”
“There is something here that I want to be part of building together”.

I connect people with purpose.
My purpose is to help organizations and leaders find their centrepoint — their purpose — and through the clarity and energy that this unleashes, create more meaningful relationships and more impact on the things they truly care about. Purpose is where capitalism meets sustainability. And pretty soon, it will be the only way to do business.
Find your centre.
Move with clarity. If your organization feels heavier than it should, there's usually a reason.
Let’s find what’s getting in the way and what becomes possible when people, leadership, and strategy start moving together.
