Fund Development Plan Outline

An outline of the Fund Development Plan

  1. Executive Summary
    Provide a summary of the major components of the fund development plan.  Include the organization’s greatest achievements and accomplishments.
  2. Agency Fundraising History
    What is the history of your organization – provide a detailed written summary.  Include where your initial funding came from if possible.
  3. Overview
    3.1.  Mission/Vision/Values
    3.2.  Linkage with Strategic and Business Plans
    3.3.  Partnerships / Collaborations – who do you work with (provide a paragraph on each), are 
            any of your programs duplicated by other organizations – if so explain.
    3.4.  Other related programs in the community
  4. Sources of Revenue
    4.1.  Historical and Current Funding Sources
             4.1.1.    Include names, dates and funding amounts
    4.2.  Goals – Financial and Non-financial
    4.3.  Timing – When are the funds required
  5. Fundraising Needs / Program Descriptions
    5.1.  The Need for Fund Development
             5.1.1.    Organizational needs & priorities (What do you need, what difference will it make to
                          the organization, how much does it cost, when do you need it)
             5.1.2.    Fundraising Goals, Objectives, Timelines
             5.1.3.    Calendar of Activities (when do you have to do things – proposal deadlines and 
                          submissions, fundraising activities i.e. special events, newsletters, direct mail
                          activities, etc.)
    5.2.  Description of Programs
            5.2.1.    Include testimonials from:  organization, funders, users
                         5.2.1.1.   How many people do your serve, in each program, are there any waiting 
                                        lists, which programs are subsidized and by how much?
                         5.2.1.2.   Donor Recognition Program
            5.2.2.    Program Budgets – Expenses / Revenues
  6. Case Statement
  7. Governance
    7.1.  Who governs you?  Provide a Board list with a short paragraph of who they are, what they
            do (professionally and / or as a community volunteer), interests / what they bring to the
            Board.  This provides credibility to the organization and shows the accountability that
            exists.  Include this information in your funding proposals.

    8.1.  Potential for Support (who will you ask, when and for what)
            8.1.1. Businesses and Organizations
